I am daily expected. I cooperate with him in this view, and the matter remains thus with the understanding however that a supplementary Sefsions is to be held in case the Attorney General, who I hear is unwell at Shanghai, does not soon return.

He called on me this morning, and whilst stating his present opinion of the sufficiency of Mr Ball's appointment, he seemed to think that as the whole legality of the Sessions might be questioned by others on points connected with its adjournment - though he did not consider such objections well founded - it might be advisable to wait the return of the Attorney General, who I hear is quite prepared to cooperate.
